Your 4-Point Plan to Win The Battle On Bathroom Mold

Your 4-Point Plan to Win The Battle On Bathroom Mold

Your shower is the place where you get clean, but it’s also an ideal environment for mold to grow and prosper, leaving behind that nasty black-colored gunk that gives you the willies.

You may be wondering: Is bathroom mold dangerous? Exposure to this kind of household mold is highly unlikely to be poisonous or cause serious health issues, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. But it can cause respiratory issues, research shows, particularly in those who have asthma.

So even if the shower mold doesn’t make you sick, it can be unsightly. After eliminating it, you'll want to do what you can to keep it from coming back.

1. Use soap and water. While bleach will clear up mold stains, it doesn’t kill or remove it. Tackle the job with a scrub brush and hot, soapy water or an antifungal solution.

2. Apply grout sealer. An annual application can block moisture and keep things looking nice.

3. Every time you shower, turn on the exhaust fan. Allow it to run for at least 20 minutes, long enough to reduce those post-shower humidity levels in your bathroom and remove any moisture left in the fan and ducts.

4. Always keep a shower squeegee handy. After each bath and shower, use it to wipe your bathroom walls dry. Perfect for eliminating water spots and soap film from glass, mirror, tile and marble surfaces.

The DELUXE Squeegee from Better Living includes a suction hook so it’s easier than ever to keep your shower clean. With its solid zinc cast metal handle, it’s a stylish upgrade for your bathroom.
